Still alive!

Wow I can't believe that it has been so long since I posted last!
We have been quite busy, extra music practices with my solo being Sunday and some panic attacks by me lol! We are trying to spend some time with our drummer, C, as he has to be back to college on August 10. We are sure going to miss him! It sounds like he is going to go and visit his parents in Brazil (they are missionaries)and he is not sure if he is going to come back next summer or not. He is such a neat guy! You don't find alot of people who are real friendly with both husband and wife but C is. He and I have music and the Praise Band in common so we talk alot and he and K have alot of the same interests and things in common, not to mention he is just an easy guy to talk to and get along with. We have gotten his email address and he has our email, phone number, and address, so hopefully we can keep in touch with him!
We went to a fundraiser for a little guy from church yesterday. He has seizures and has been airlifted to Mayo more than once. He also ended up with StevensJohnsons syndrome I believe it was called. He isn't quite two yet, and such a doll! They had a meal at a local campground and then canoeing and kayaking and all the proceeds are going to him. Looked like they had a pretty good crowd.
This week Ragbrai comes right by the house, K took Thursday and Friday off with it all. He could get to work no problem on Thursday but getting home would be another thing. Will be nice to have him home too, kids always enjoy it when he is here and if it's nice we can get them into the pool easier. It sounds like C may be spending the better part of the weekend with us too. K invited him over for Thursday night, it sounds like Youth for Christ is going to have some things going on and we may go check them out. And when I heard that we talked it over and K and I decided to invite him over on Friday to spend the night if he likes and he has to work Saturday and then he can come back and we can swim and whatever until supper and then have his Grandpa come up for supper.(C is staying with his Grandpa while he is here.)
Well, I suppose, better go and get some more laundry done, and figure out when I am going to clean the house with all the fun going on this weekend!

Exciting night

Well, for the second year in a row we have the biggest class in the whole group in the Preschool and Kindergarten group. Last night we had 14 kids! It went pretty well, note to self for tonight, more caffiene, must keep up with kids! I think the first night is always the hardest anyway. We had quite a few new ones out so that was good to see too. We had one of the workers either faint or felt like she was going to faint, I'm not quite sure. The heat really can catch up to you in it all too!
Also while we were in Bible School the fire department was called out to a fire at a restaurant(The Tower Club) in the area. We tried to drive by after we were done but they still had the roads blocked off. It sounds like it burnt everything. There was a picture on the news of the building while it was still daylight and all that was left was the shell, and we are figuring that by 9:30 they still had the roads blocked off wasn't a good sign either. We rarely went there, expensive and just not our kind of place really, but I think that it was a pretty popular place.
M and C start their late week tonight. Their Mom said that they have some on vacation and one was fired over the weekend so she needs to cover. I said as long as it was no later than 5:30 it wasn't a problem. Then again as soon as the kids are out the front door we are out the back door on our way to church to eat and then get ready for VBS. Thankfully it's only one week!

VBS week

Wow, time flies when you are having fun I guess! We have been really busy with getting things ready for Vacation Bible School this week. We have had to get things set up at church, find extra fans to take because per normal it is going to be 90 degrees and humid all week, and getting things colored, cut out, etc for decorating our areas.
I am helping with the preschool age kids again this year. We got our room set up last night and most of the decorating done. The kids are going to help some with the decorating too. We are going to have the kids do a couple things to help decorate too.
Pastor or his wife are going to drop off their youngest just before we are to go to church so they can go and see the older two boys' ballgames. The middle one will be coming to VBS as soon as he is done so we don't have to worry about getting him home after, just getting him there ontime. We will be there a bit early, but he's old enough to behave.
They are doing something very nice this year and having people volunteer to bring food in to feed the people who are working with the kids. There are a few of us who will be going right from work(even though I am at home we will be cutting it close with the kids schedules for today and tomorrow at least; get the kids out the front door with parents and then out the back door to get to church) so K and I will be eating there tonight and tomorrow, then we will see about the rest of the week. I will be done about 4:30 the rest of the week, but if not many people are showing up then we may just go and eat, we want the people to know that their time and effort was appreciated and not turn them off from doing it next year.
I really haven't spoken to A in a little over a week now. I don't know what is going to happen with that situation, I am leaving it in God's hands. Actually Pastor and I have had a conversation about how wonderful Wednesday nights especially have been terrific for me as it really relates to what I am dealing with and it really speaks to my heart. Sunday morning was wonderful as well this week! Not that it isn't normally, but it's just extra special when something hits that close to home and has that extra meaning you know?

Stitching Bloggers Question

Do you think that you stitch neater on Evenweave than you do on Aida
cloth? If so, why?
Well, I am just starting my first project with evenweave so I really can't say yet, I am enjoying this project though, I love learning about it and it is making a very beautiful picture!

Wonderful Weekend!

The weekend was busy, but alot of fun! We went to Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch on Saturday, got there about two pm and got C's drums set up and had sound check for the concert that night. We then went to the campsite for an early supper ( Pastor's wife is WONDERFUL at cooking things over the campfire! Lol if I tried to do that we'd be eating lots of raw things lol!) A little walk around an some volleyball and it was soon time for the concert. It was a great concert and C got up and gave a bit of his testimony and talked about being a missionaries kid from Brazil. We went back to the campsite for some time around the campfire and hot dogs and smores and lots and lots of good conversation.
Sunday morning brought some big winds and some rain, but we still enjoyed some conversation over breakfast in the cabin and then it was off to church. It was another wonderful service and I thought about alot of things during that time and came to a couple realizations. I have really gotten caught up in petty things around here lately and drifted from God, just kind of going through the motions, and I decided to "stand up and shake it off" as I tell the kids around here lol and get my priorities back into place. Even if that does mean drifting even farther from an old friend. This friend is not saved and can be a more negative influence on me and even though I hate to see the friendship come to an end, I am coming to the realization that maybe that is what I need to do, that God is telling me that as much as I would like to I am not going to reach her and I need to just distance myself and concentrate on Him and not get so stuck on reaching this one person, to look at the bigger picture. I just feel like I would be giving up though, walking out on her like everyone else has, just fitting the norm when I have been trying to stay away from that, but I guess that there is only so much that you can do. I am just going to read my Bible, do my devotions, and pray about it, see what the Lord shows me.
We had such a great time at camp that we didn't want to come home, so we called Mom and Dad to see if they would mind keeping the pups an extra night and they said that was fine! We ended up playing a two hour game of volleyball and then swimming for two hours after that! It was alot of fun and I got to know Pastor and his wife and C alot better over the weekend as well! And after another long evening of wonderful conversation over the campfire and some hot dogs and smores I drifted off into a deep sleep only to wake up entirely too soon to pack up and come back and pick up the pups! After unpacking what we could from the car I grabbed a shower and fell asleep in the chair after drying my hair! We went and unloaded C's drums at church and then decided to head to Wal Mart for some pictures, a new bottle of shampoo( I broke ours on the way back from the showers after swimming) and a couple of thank you gifts for my parents and for Pastor and his wife for the wonderful weekend!
It was a terriffic weekend, no tv, no phone except for calling to check on staying an extra night, no distractions, just a nice quiet time away to really get things back into perspective and get closer to God!
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend as well!

So tired

Feeling kind of down today, but I know that has alot to do with not getting enough sleep. I had knitting on Monday night, practice for the concert on Tuesday night, prayer meeting and practice again last night, so I have not been getting to bed until after eleven and then trying to get up at 6 for the kids to get here. No fun. I am really dragging today! I finally gathered up my courage and offered to sing a bit on Saturday if Pastor wanted, but it doesn't sound like he is going to need me, nice in a way too, I can just enjoy myself and relax!
It sounds like it is going to be cooler this weekend too! Nice as I really don't think this camp will have air conditioning in our rooms lol! The heat isn't so bad, but the humidity has just been terrible!
I started my newest knitting project this week too, going to try to make a tote bag. Not starting out real well so far, but then it really probably wasn't a good week to start lol!
Guess that is all I know for now.......

Catching up on the excitement

Sorry for not popping in and posting but as you may or may not have noticed I had some issues with blogger lol! I was trying to add something to the sidebar and the next thing I know poof everything went wacky! Jen was kind enough to point out that it may be something with one of my posts that I made, which I think did help alot when I deleted it! I think that we are getting things back in order now, hopefully anyway.....
There has been lots of excitement at our house over the weekend and into this week. It all started on Sunday when after church and our VBS meeting my Dad came looking for us, he had gotten a call from my brother saying that he had gone in the ditch and needed us to come and pull him out. Now, knowing the way my brother drives we were all wondering what we were going to find when we got out there. Come to find out that he not only had his girlfriend, her little boy and himself in the car, but the baby girl of one of his girlfriend's friends. And like I said the way my brother drives we were all very thankful that it was just in the ditch! Apparently he had gone to swat a bug from somewhere because she won't touch bugs and he noticed he was going onto the shoulder on the opposite side of the road and turned to get back on the road and over corrected and ended up in the ditch on their side of the road. They hit something in the ditch and it spun them around to face the opposite direction. K was able to pull them out but it did look like the car was going to roll at first, but he was able to get them pulled out without incident.
We grabbed something to eat and after catching up a bit we took them out to the fair. We went into the Expo building and walked around one last time and we noticed the local quilt shop's booth that we hadn't noticed before. I saw that they were giving away a sewing machine and joked with my mom that I should sign up and then maybe I would learn how to use it if I won it! We laughed and I signed up thinking it would be the last I would hear of it and we went on giggling through the rest of the building. Monday I was getting things cleaned up and ready for the kids to go home and I got the phone call that I WON THE SEWING MACHINE!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! I never win anything! Even the movie tickets that I have won on Blingo were from A's surfing! Lol I told K that this definately proves that the Lord has a good sense of humor!!!! And my knitting teacher has told me that she will teach me how to sew now too, and the quilt shop will give me free classes on how to use my machine! I am so excited! I have always really wanted to learn to sew and make myself clothes, but didn't figure I would ever learn, now I have no excuse!
This weekend my parents are going to puppy sit and we are going to Ironwood Springs with Pastor and our drum player from our Praise Team. The other singers aren't going and our two guitar players have cancelled on us, it sounds like we do have practice with a possible sub for a bass player tonight though. K is going to do sound and I was just planning on going along for the fun of it, but I told K that if Pastor wanted me to sing I would, try to make it a little more fun as he has been kind of bummed that it would most likely be just him and the drum player. Either way it will be nice to get away for a bit for the weekend, even if it is only for one night! Then with Monday being the 4th no work!!!! Gotta love that!
Well, the kids are napping finally so I think I may go try to catch a quick nap too. Laters......

Fair fun!

Today Monster's Mom didn't have to work until 11:30 so she came in early and helped me take kiddos up to the fair to see the animals. It isn't such a big chore with just the two I would have had, but she wanted to take Monster to see the animals too and it was just nice to have another adult around. I concidered it payback for the other day lol!
The kids were really good, and it was HOT! We were all glad to get back to the house in the air conditioning! I always knew I had a bunch of clowns here, but now I have the picture to prove it lol! They had one of those frames that the kids can stick their heads in and it looked like they were a bunch of clowns in a car! I will post a picture of them soon! Don't know if I can change my heading here, but that would be the PERFECT picture to use if I could lol!
Don't know what we are going to do tonight for sure. We went up to the fair last night and ate and walked around and then around 10 we went to Pastor's house and watched the fireworks after the rodeo. Pastor's wife had been out picking strawberries in the morning so she fed us all well with strawberry shortcake! It was sooooo good! Tonight is one of the wristband nights for the rides so it should be packed. I would actually like to go and get some pictures of the ferris wheel and things in the dark. I took one picture like that last night and it turned out really neat. I am loving experimenting with all the settings and things on this camera!

Running here and there

Yesterday all the kids left early so I got a chance to just lay down and relax for a while until K got home from doing papers. That was sooo nice! These early mornings are really catching up with me! I think they are with M and C too, C has napped for the last four or five days by his choice, how many six year old boys do you know that voluntarily nap?!
K took me to Wal Mart and I checked at Smart Cuts, but the girl who normally cuts my hair wasn't there. I thought about it and decided to go ahead and get it cut anyway, it was pretty bad. I'm glad I did, it feels much better today. I liked the girl who did it well enough, and figured she couldn't mess up trimming up the layers that my normal stylist cut, but I do know that I will be going back to my normal stylist next time if possible. I trust her more, like her personality, and love what she has done with my hair. Twice now I have told her that I just don't know what to do with it, and give her free reign. She did somethings that I would never have had done before and I LOVE the result now! K even bought me three more skeins of yarn for my knitting! He is really getting a kick out of the result of the dishcloth I am working on now, since I learned to purl. He thinks it's funny! We got a bunch of pictures developed finally too, spent about 18 dollars on them! But I make doubles for the daycare kids' parents too, and I made some doubles of the tball game for my friend who couldn't make it to see her daughter play, some for my brother's girlfriend of her little guy, and some of my parent's flowers for them. I love taking picturesd!
The fair officially starts today. The kids are all talking about it and very excited! Friday Monster's Mom is going to come in early since she doesn't have to be to work until noon and we are going to take the kids to walk and see the animals at the fair. K and I probably won't get up there until Thursday or Friday night, I don't know I'm really just not that excited about it this time. A funnel cake sounds good, as well as some fudge and salt water taffy from one of the vendors, as well as stopping in at a friend from church's booth and getting some more chai tea, maybe some cotton candy, but that's about it. Walking the expo building is always fun for the freebies as well.
Kiddos should all be gone around 5 tonight, Grandma is picking up one of the drop ins, her sister isn't here today and we are very teary. Then it's clean up and off to church. Hoping to get to sleep before ten tonight as tomorrow will be a busy day! I will have six or seven kids! K is hoping to get off early to come and help me. Not a big sacrifice concidering how hot it is supposed to be. I told him if you help me with lunch then you can nap with the kids in the air conditioned house! He didn't have to think too hard!
Well, need to check on Monster to see if she has gone back to sleep after Teddy standing on her head when the drop in got here. Laters!
