FOG

There is just one word to describe today....fog! The kids were supposed to have an early out from school today, but because of the dense fog they changed it and had a two hour late start instead. When it was time for the kids to get ready to go I was quite surprised to see how dense the fog was, and that they hadn't cancelled like some other area schools. The good daycare provider that I am I packed the kids up and sloooowly made the way to the school. We made it safely thankfully, but got home to discover that someone had an accident on the corner by our house. When we pulled into our driveway it looked like it had just happened...the two drivers meeting and talking, so I took Miss M and walked over to make sure everyone was ok and see if they needed any help. It turns out that one of the drivers was one of the local preschool teachers, one that I have known from the church I used to attend with my parents when I was still in jr high/high school. Everyone was fine, it was all cosmetic damage and a blown tire on the preschool teacher's car. The wrecker came and they put the spare tire on her car and she is now off to the school.
It was actually a nice little lesson for Miss M...she and her brother seemed to be afraid of police men and would yell if they saw a police car. While waiting for the wrecker to come this police officer got down on Miss M's level and talked to her, asked her who it was on her hat and when he was leaving made it a point to say goodbye to her too! After we got inside I told her how proud I was of her and we had a nice little talk about how the police men are there to help and how he helped the preschool teacher, we don't have to be afraid of them.
I have to say though, that I am VERY thankful that I was not the one involved in the accident! Although it could very easily have been...this fog is just crazy today...you really can't see much more than a half a block or so ahead of you. I will have to try to take some pictures to see if I can capture just how foggy it really is. It's crazy!

I was about to say - it sounds like a nice lesson for you about how dangerous your corner could be in the fog??? You seem to be posting a lot about car accidents.. You drive carefully!!!
