Winter fun!

We ended up pretty much snowed in this weekend. Saturday it snowed and snowed hard! I ended up going back to Wal Mart with C and we spent most of the day there. We were picking up some stocking stuffers and getting some groceries for Christmas dinner and for our big cookie baking extravaganza! Of course we stopped at Mc Donalds for breakfast and made one extra stop for C to do a little shopping for a couple new sweaters for work.
We got all of our grocery/baking supplies at Wal Mart and headed home. The snowplows hadn't been out much and it was still snowing. We looked out on the fields on the way home and we just saw white. C and I made some of her spaghetti sauce and meatballs and then PM gave me a ride home. While I was gone, K had pulled the dishwasher, stove, and refrigerator away from the wall and cleaned underneath and behind them. We had a problem with mice for a while and K found one dead under the refrigerator...I am sooo glad that I wasn't here for that! PM stopped over later and the decision was made to cancel church, it was supposed to be very windy and the concern was blowing snow and the sub zero temperatures combined with wind chill would make for dangerous travel. We started the calling tree and let everyone know that there would be no church on Sunday and we would have a Christmas Eve service instead.
Sunday we slept in and just hung around the house until C called and we headed over to PM and C's house to start our cookie baking. We made rosettes, peanut butter cookies with Hershey's kisses on top, Andes Mint cookies, buckeye balls, and chocolate covered pretzels. We also decided to do some more baking Christmas Eve day.
I had such a great time baking!
Yesterday was another cold day and school was cancelled and K is on vacation for two weeks now. I only had L, T, and Tater and the boys had a blast with K! They even pulled out the little electronic drumset and had a lovely concert for me! K took off to go shopping at naptime, he told me that he hadn't gotten me anything yet and thought he better be a good hubby and go shopping! I also had a couple things for him to pick up and he got a hair cut, so it was a very productive afternoon for him! The boys left early and we just hung out and put some laundry away for the rest of the evening.
Today I only have Miss A and she has had a fun filled morning chasing her "Nee Nee" around the snow paths this morning. (When she first started daycare here Miss A was just beginning to talk and she couldn't say K's name, after she started calling him "Nee Nee" and us not understanding where it came from we finally figured it out....when I needed K I called for him..."Hey Honey!" Miss A adores K and we always joked that she was his little girlfriend and I should feel threatened, and she was proving it by calling him her Honey! and she still calls him that to this day. In fact LC, I, and 12 year old CG call him Nee Nee!!)
Now A is napping and K is helping to get things set up for the Community Christmas Dinner that will be held Christmas Day. We have at least one basketball game, maybe two depending if BC is playing up tonight, and we need to go over the PowerPoint that was for Sunday morning's service that will now be used for tomorrow night's service.
Tomorrow is baking and church followed by Christmas with my parents and then Christmas with K and I. Christmas Day brings helping with the Community Christmas Dinner and games and snacks with PM, C, and family.
I really hope that K likes his gift! PM buys and resells golf clubs and he helped me put together a new set for K since he is getting better and enjoying golf more. PM is even going to deliver them for me and get it all set up while K and I are at my parents' house for Christmas! Hopefully he will like them and I can get a good picture of his reaction!
I do have some good pictures of our snow and all the "fun" we are having in it and I will try to get them posted soon.
If I don't get them posted until after Christmas I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas! and may the Lord bless you in this holiday season and in the New Year to come!

*The date and time may be off on this post as I started it yesterday morning!!

Ick, snow!

This is the view out my front door this morning. Fun. K went out with the snowblower at about 5:15 this morning and I still had to go out and shovel the path from the front door to the road when I got up at 7:30. The worst was at the end by the road since the snowplows had come by and packed it in. We live near the hospital so our road out front is usually plowed quite well.
The kids don't have school to day. I'm guessing there will be no basketball game tonight either, they have been known to have games on nights they have not had school before, but I haven't heard anything either way yet. If there is no game we might go over to PM and C's and try to work on their computer a little bit. I will definately need to get out of the house! Maybe I will try to get some more pictures around town of all of the snow.
LC, I, and Miss A want to go outside and play in the snow, but their Dad did not bring snowpants for anyone or hat or mittens for Miss A. They have not been too happy with me. They are going down for nap early....all a bit crabby and having troubles getting along... and soon after that they will be headed home.
In the meantime I am trying to get the PowerPoint typed up for PM and do a little more work on the agenda for the meeting that the elders and deacons were supposed to have on Tuesday, but was postponed because of the snow, that they are trying to reschedule yet. I have the hymn book project to work on too, not to mention the Christmas shopping that needs to be done yet and the wrapping of the gifts that we do have...I will definately not be bored I can say that much!!

More snow!

Another day another snow storm. They say that we cold get five to eight inches. So far we have barely gotten anything. It will not hurt my feelings at all if they were wrong and we didn't get much of anything!! I didn't get much done today, I was cleaning up the desktop and the laptop and doing a bit of reasearch on a problem that PM is having with his computer so we can go and work on it. We made it to prayer meeting and now had a little ice cream and I'm thinking about going to bed early. I may have to get up early and shovel, but hopefully not much!

If everything goes well we will have another basketball game or two, J has been home sick the last couple days with the flu.

We had a great time Christmas caroling last night! I threatened to turn my girls around and take them back to church because the one especially was being a bit rude and had an attitude but thankfully she straightened up. The only real downside is that I got a call that one of the kids that went in our group is sick with a nasty stomach bug today, we are all praying that the people at the nursing home that we went caroling to do not get it!

I know I know I was bad and disappeared again. I really did sit down and open the new post window and start to write something and then something would happen and I never would finish it, or sometimes never even get started!
The weekend was crazy! We ended up working at church Friday night getting ready for the Christmas program on Sunday and I ran through the song that I was possibly going to sing, if I could get the ending worked out. The very last time that I went through it I finally got the timing on the ending.
Saturday K went to work and got off an hour early so we could be at church at 10:30 to work out a mic set up for B so she could play guitar for one of the families who was singing Sunday night, and then practice with the Childrens' Choir at 11. PM ended up playing piano with the family that B was playing guitar with so they practiced after the Childrens' Choir. We ordered pizza and ate at church and had just enough time to clean up before the next group came in to practice at 2. One last practice after they were done and we could go home. I tried to download a song from iTunes for PM so he could hear what he was supposed to be playing the next night but had some technical difficulties since iTunes felt the need to update at the same time!
I ran out of time and had to go and change for Madrigal. K had gone to pick up a snowblower with PM and I left him a note telling him that I would finish when I got home. Ha, they apparently didn't read my note and I got the first phone call asking about it just before Madrigal started. I explained what happened and told them that I would finish it when I got home. Three hours later I get two more phone calls. I get messages from K telling me that he doesn't know how to finish the download and that he had tried but lost the file and thankfully found it again and then in the second message he tells me that he and PM got tired of waiting for C and I to get home and they were headed to church to work on PowerPoint. C laughed and commented about how the guys couldn't live without me for even three and a half hours, and I told her that I felt loved at least, and I would worry only when the phone calls stopped!:)
Sunday we got to church early and practiced with the kids again, they were singing in the morning service as well as for the Christmas program. They did a great job in the morning service! They smiled and sang much louder than they ever had in practice, and their timing was wonderful!! We had a surprise 50th birthday party to go to after church and then back to church an hour early so more people could practice and get amps and things set up for the program. The program went by so quickly and the kids did even better than they did in the morning! I was so proud of them! I was the very last person to sing in the program and I was so nervous when I got up there! I got to the tough part and I had perfect timing on the first half of the last chorus (which that was the one and only time it EVER happened even practicing!!) and I hit the ending! It was definately a God thing! I sang "Let There be Light" by Point of Grace. Such a beautiful song! I looked down when I was finished and on the top of the black metal stand you could see my sweaty finger prints! Couldn't tell how nervous I was ha!
Monday was a busy day with kids and yesterday Tater woke up from nap early and threw a 45 minute fit! Sooo glad that day is over!
Today I am catching up with laundry and if the weather stays nice we will go Christmas caroling for Awana tonight. I'm hoping to catch a little nap when the kids go down this afternoon too. I'm going to need it, the rest of the week looks just as busy!!

Awana store

Awana store was wonderful last night! Leaders were able to shop after all the kids had been sent home too! Our storekeeper likes it because it cleans out the store allowing her to buy new things to put out next time and with the leaders paying a quarter a share it generates a little more money for her to buy the things with. It is no problem for us to find things to buy either! They have some great things! A few of the things that we picked up last night will be given as Christmas gifts.
The girls in my group really didn't accomplish much in passing sections, everyone was so flighty and not paying attention. I know it's hard with the Christmas coming up and all sorts of activities going on but I was getting a bit frustrated with one of the girl's attitudes being snotty and having to have her nose in everyone elses' business and one other of the girls just not caring and spacing off when the two other girls were working hard and trying to pass sections. The other two made it hard for them to concentrate and pass anything.
I did get some pictures of store and the kids shopping. I will post them tomorrow, the kids are starting to wake up from nap now. Off to diaper duty!

Winter has most definately arrived!

We survived the first big snowstorm of the year. I think we may have gotten about eight inches of snow! It didn't help that we had a little rain and ice to start things off and with the wind blowing, it was one of those "fun" storms. The kids got out of school two hours early on Monday, had no school on Tuesday, and then had a two hour late start this morning. The late start this morning was kind of nice, it meant I didn't have any kiddos until ten! I took advantage of that time to get caught up with a few emails and things and put my laundry away finally!
L, T, and Tater enjoyed the snow yesterday. I took them out for about a half an hour in the morning and when K came home in the afternoon we went out again. The snow was almost up to Tater's waist and he was trudging along and kept telling me, "I stuck"! We baked cookies for snack, and their only complaint for the day was that I didn't have any hot cocoa when we came inside after playing in the snow! Can't please 'em all, I guess!
We helped a friend get her new laptop set up and some programs downloaded on it on Monday night and last night we went and worked at church to finish setting up the Awana store. I will try to remember to bring my camera and get pictures! The store is AMAZING! Our storekeeper does a great job and has spent time every day this week getting it all set up. For alot of the kids this is their only time to go Christmas shopping, and they can get their gifts wrapped and everything. Thankfully the storm won't keep us from having store!
Tomorrow brings the basketball games that were supposed to be last night, but were moved due to weather and Saturday will be a full day with Christmas program practice, cookie baking, Madrigal, and going over PowerPoint with PM for services Sunday morning! I'm glad that Friday is looking a bit slower, I'll need that time to type up the PowerPoint!
I suppose I should go and put that next load of laundry away, I wish there was some sort of machine that would put it away for you too, not just wash and dry it!

Knitting Scarves

Jen asked about the scarves I have been knitting in a comment to a previous post, so here I am to answer her questions and hopefully help myself at the same time and have it all in writing.
First, Jen; what is the scarf that you want to knit going to be used for? To keep warm or more for dress? The scarves that I knit for warmth I usually use about 25 stitches. For the "tinsel" scarf that I am working on now, it's more for dress and I have 16 stitches on my needles. I have not done tassels on the ends of any of my scarves, but I have heard that it is fairly easy to attatch them using a crochet hook, I will have to see if I can find any more information on that for you. As for length, if I am using the fun fur I usually use two skeins of the fun fur.
It may be a little close for you to knit a scarf for Christmas, but that all depends on how fast you knit and how much time you will have to work on it. If I don't have any kids or anything else going on and I can get a scarf done in 2-3 days, but some scarves I just do a few rows here and a few rows there it can take alot longer.
I hope this helps Jen! If there are any other questions that I can answer just let me know!

Hello again!

I didn't make it to the basketball games yesterday, but after K came home from work (he was working a little overtime) we went Christmas shopping. We found a little something for PM, C, and L,T, and Tater's parents. I still have a bit more shopping to do, but finding the time to do it is challenging. I did find a good idea for my sister inlaw, and I can even get it online. I found out that she needs clothes since her work has changed their dress code and she likes Kohls, so I am going to buy her a gift certificate. K found a good deal to get tires on my car, so we shopped a bit at Wal Mart while that was being done and drove home watching a beautiful sunset.

I did something really smart this morning:( we were cleaning up the coffee pot after church and I was talking to C and not paying attention and ended up getting my arm under the spout of the coffee pot where it was emptying the leftover coffee into the sink! It isn't a bad burn, but it hurts! And as if that wasn't bad enough, Teddy was pawing at me and clawed that exact spot! It almost brought me to tears!

In some happy and surprising news, Bonnie gave me an award! My second blog award!

The rules for this award are that you must list 5 of your addictions and then give the award to five other people. Tell these people about their award by leaving a comment for them on their blog.
Hmm, my addictions would be....
My Bible-I try to read as often as I can. I fail miserably at times, but I always take something away from my time reading when I do!
Music-My phone even has an mp3 player in it! Doing daycare with all the noise of the kids, when it is just K and I it is too quiet! I'm usually busy doing something and not concentrating on the tv so I love to have music playing in the background! I also sing in church (and have also sung in the nursing homes a couple times as well as the community Christmas dinner once!) and I am trying to learn piano.
Mt Dew-I need my caffiene to keep me going at times!
Chocolate-Do I really need to explain this one?
My Computer-I send out the prayer requests for church here, have things I have typed for church saved, facebook, my blog, sites I go to to print things off for the kids, I would be lost without my computer!
Hmm, now who do I give this award to? I choose; Holli , Erin, Daisy Girl, Steffie, and Jack's Mom

More basketball "fun"

Well, it was an ugly game tonight but we won. At one point we had ten fouls and the other team had three. One of our guys was even called for pushing when he was trying to take a shot! Interesting refs.....l
Tomorrow is M's tournament, I am planning to go if PM and C remember to pick me up. K has to work at least half the day. If not I will get my Sunday School done and probably knit some more on the "tinsel" scarf. I hope that they remember to pick me up though, K has been working Saturdays for the last month or so and it gets really old sitting here by myself. I can't really go anywhere either, he takes the car.
It was a slow day work wise. Miss A's Mom is home sick with pneumonia, T and his Mom have strep, and L was sent home sick from school with the stomach flu. They sent Tater to me so T and Mom could rest. Good thing too, he thought it was alot of fun to beat me up today. He was a good boy, just very active and after realizing that he was the center of my attention today he ate it all up!

Here I am again!

Yesterday was a bit of a crazy day for a day that I almost had off haha! The kids were good, there was just alot to do! I sat down to blog about five times and the phone would ring or the kids would need something...after Awana I was exhausted so I didn't get a post in at all, and boy I missed it!
Today has been a pretty quiet day. I finally pulled out the jump drive that we got during our Black Friday shopping and started putting all the pictures and things that I wanted to save from one of my MSN groups since they have decided to close their groups in February. I started an MSN group for storage when I first started doing things with Paint Shop Pro, back before I knew about jump drives.
Now that I have that done I will be back to work on the project with the hymnal indexes. It is a big project, but I am enjoying it.
Tonight we are going to watch BC play basketball and then M has a concert after that. That is if Miss A leaves on time. Last night her parents were a half hour late to get her and her brother. It wasn't a big deal, but just kind of a pain. I hate being in a rush!

Kids and basketball craziness!

Ohhhh today has been a day! First I get a text message at 6a.m. telling me that the boys Mom was called into work so I will have them today. No problem, once I figured out that it was a text and not a phone call haha! I was just waking up and not really "with it" at that point.
I get my shower and head downstairs when I get a call saying that Miss A's Mom is home sick so she will be keeping Miss A home with her. Again, no problem makes the day a bit easier, now I won't have two two/three year olds fighting over toys as has been the norm lately. I got a phone call later saying that Mom will be off work tomorrow too...now THAT makes me happy, that means I get the day off tomorrow!! Gotta love that!
Tater starts getting a bit cranky before lunch, I try to get an early lunch in and get them down for naps figuring he's tired and will fall asleep easily and take a nice long nap....WRONG! Not only is he up twice crying and very cranky when he wakes up, but T wakes up twice, once for me to help him to the bathroom to go potty(he was so tired he could barely hold himself up to walk!) and once for I'm not sure why. But they both also woke up early from nap and are a tad on the emotional side.
My brain is just spinning with everything that is going on today! It's not been a bad day, just one of those where the house seems more like Grand Central Station!
We didn't make it to BC's game last night, but we are going to watch J play tonight, Awana tomorrow, BC's game or M's concert Thursday and maybe J play again on Friday, and M has a tournament on Saturday. Wee, basketball season is in full swing!

Edited: Never mind...I don't get the day off tomorrow after all. Miss A's Mom called and asked if she could bring Miss A and I tomorrow. Apparently Miss A didn't let Mommy rest very much at all today. No big deal, the two of them will play well together and I can still get a few things done around the house.

NaBloPoMo is over!

I know that yesterday was the end of NaBloPoMo, but thanks to the new friends that I have "met" blogging is more fun again. I enjoyed posting and I enjoyed commenting on blogs! I can't promise that I will post every day, I sure didn't with NaBloPoMo...I did miss one day :(, but I will definately be posting more often.
I came home after church last night and was starting a bit of a headache and relaxed in the recliner for a bit, well, that was the plan anyway...the next thing I know I am waking up to the sounds of K putting the last of the dishes in the dishwasher and starting it up. Such a sweet guy, he went out and cleaned up the kitchen for me! That was no little thing either, we really hadn't washed any dishes or cleaned much up with the Thanksgiving holiday...we weren't home for alot of it, but there were quite a few dishes to put in the dishwasher. That was so sweet!
I got up this morning and unpacked the new crockpot and made a pot of chili, did some laundry, cleaned up a few things and checked my email before little A got here. With the kids two hour late start for school her older sister was watching her. I've gotten more laundry done and the house cleaned since then and I am hoping to get some typing and the rest of my laundry done so we can go to BC's basketball game.
Thank you all for your comments on my blog this last month and for your friendship!

Snow, ick!

We got about four inches of snow over night last night and the roads around the area were not very good. They already called a 2 hour late start for the morning. It's just so slippery, that's the main problem. I had to leave church and pick up someone and I fishtalied as I got out on the highway.
I really don't like this snow!!

Black Friday Shopping fun!

We braved the Black Friday shopping mess and got some good deals this morning. The only thing that I couldn't find were the jeans that were on sale, but I got all of the important things that we were looking for, as well as a couple of extras. K found a good deal at Radio Shack on a new wireless mouse for my computer, the old one was getting pretty bad, and he found a deal on a Bluetooth ear piece for my phone.
We got up a little late, we wanted to be leaving the house by 4:25, we have a twenty minute or so drive to Wal Mart, and we ended up not getting up until about 4:30 since someone forgot to set an earlier alarm, but it all ended well.
We went through drive through at Mc Donalds for breakfast and made it home by about 7. I went back to bed then and didn't get up again until 10:30!
We put up a few Christmas lights and now we are getting ready to go and check out the town's Christmas parade. I may be back to post more later, but if not, I hope you all had a great day and found the deals you were looking for if you went shopping!

Thursday, November 27, 2008

With Thanksgiving tomorrow I thought that these quizzes were fun. I finally decided what salad I am making for our adopted family/friend get together tomorrow and we went to get our grocieries tonight. K took me out to Chinese for supper too. I was hungry! I realized after the kids left about three that I hadn't eaten lunch! My General Tso's chicken was so good!
We plan on going to my parents house in the morning and probably an early lunch and then going to church to meet with our church family and eat and play games. It will be nice to relax and just hang out with our family and friends! I think we are going to be crazy people and go to Wal Mart for the big sale Friday morning. We might go to a couple stores here in town when we get back, but we aren't going to do a whole lot of shopping. There are just a couple deals that we thought we couldn't miss. $8 jeans for me, an 8G jump drive.
I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Projects!!!

I didn't do a whole lot yesterday. I did get all my laundry done and the house cleaned. I got a few rows knitted on my "tinsel" scarf and I got a bit of work done on my newest project. At church our regular hymnals have such a high key for some songs it is really hard to sing the hymns, so a few months ago we bought the piano binder hymnal in a lower key. Well, we couldn't find the exact same hymnal that we had before, so we bought a different one and now my job is to go through both hymnals indexes and alphabatize them and give the number in the old hymnal and the number in the new hymnal. I got through the A's yesterday! I hope to get a big chunk of it done this weekend with my time off as well as more knitting!

More scarves!

This weekend was a good one! Saturday we didn't do a lot, I got PowerPoint done and we got a couple projects done around the house and then we went over to PM and C's house and hung around and helped a bit with the garage sale PM was having and had a fire out in the back yard.
Sunday we had lunch with my parents after church and left a bit early to bake the pies we needed for the pie and ice cream fellowship after the Praise and Thanksgiving Service. I finished one scarf at Mom and Dad's house and started another one.

The blue scarf that I finished You can kind of see the little "poofy" sections that were in the yarn. I still have one skein of this yarn left. I think I will make another thinner scarf with it later
This is the scarf that I finished on Sunday. It was done with the Mexicana Lion Brand Fun Fur. I didn't realize that it was striping, I thought it was more of a mixture like the other Fun Fur scarves that I have done. I really like it, so does K and it matches my good winter coat very well!

A close up of the stripes. My good winter coat has the orange color in it.
The scarf that I started with the tinsel type yarn. I didn't get a whole lot done on it, I fell asleep while I was working on it at Mom and Dad's. I have three skeins of this, I am hoping to get at least two scarves, maybe one can be used for a Christmas gift! There are still a few people that I am not really sure what to get them for Christmas, I have a few gifts that I have bought already and quite a few ideas, we just need the money to do the shopping.
Today is pretty quiet, thankfully! I just have Miss A and we have been busy doing laundry and checking out some of the new toys I picked up at PM's garage sale. I hope to get the house cleaned during naptime, or after she leaves for the day if naptime doesn't work. I've started on a new typing project too, and hope to get some time spent on that as well as a bit of knitting. There just aren't enough hours in the day! Thankfully this is a short week!
Thanks for the comments hoping that I feel better after yesterday's post...I am feeling better. It was a sort of "personal" issu and today is a much better day.
Jen, I hope that you do start knitting again! It is alot of fun and a bit of "therapy". I can't wait to see your finished products!

Feeling icky

I'm not feeling the best tonight so this is going to be a short post.
I finished another scarf this afternoon and started another one. I made a small amount of progress, but we had to be to church early for the Praise and Thanksgiving service so I didn't get a whole lot done on it. I will get pictures of the finished products tomorrow.

Today

Yeah it was sort of a painful post yesterday and I look at it and kind of cringe today, but it did help to write it out and get it all out there instead of holding it all in. It is a bit of a better day today and I hope that it will end even better!
I did finish the one scarf I was working on and started another, I started with the Mexicana Lion Brand Fun Fur. I got one skein done and started on the second. I think I may work on the tinsel looking yarn when I am finished with this one.

Why ranting

Ugh! Why do I let other people control how I feel? Why do I let other peoples' disapproval turn into disapproval of myself? Why do I let other peoples' issues become my issues? Why do I let other people make me feel uncomfortable? Why do I let other people change a happy, comfortable, good for me situation into something uncomfortable and strange? Why do I let myself get caught up in other peoples' drama? Why can't I just let things roll of my back and get on with my life? Why can I never feel like I am "good enough", why do I feel like a failure if I can not be or do things perfectly for myself or others? Why do I let my inferiority "complex" complicate so many other things in my life? Why can't I just be "normal"? Why do I always have to second guess myself?

Tired

Not alot to say today really. One more row and I have finished the scarf I have been working on. Think I will get K to help me decide which one to start next.
I will get a picture of it finished tomorrow and hopefully have a picture of the progress on the new start.

Winter weather depression

Ugh this dark, cold, winter weather is driving me nuts! I seriously think I need the sun to "recharge my batteries"! With it being so dark and gray lately and with barely any sun I have found myself being so depressed. I have been working hard today and trying to get caught up with things (just two more loads of laundry and I will be caught up!) and now I am feeling a bit better. I am hoping that Awana will help tonight too. Tonight our theme is Food Pantry. The kids bring in a non perishable food item for 1,000 points and at the end of the night we take all of those items to the local food pantry.
Oh, I have to share one cool thing that happened to me yesterday too....I used to use the search engine Winzy...you get points every time you search, you can get instant win points with games that pop up while you are searching, and you can win prizes. I had won an Amazon gift certificate in the past, but the last time I won (which was last year....in October I believe) but had trouble redeeming the Amazon gift card that I had won. I inadvertantly ended up in the prizes section of my Winzy account yesterday and found that I was still able to redeem this gift card a little over a year later! I gave it a try and sure enough that gift card was still there waiting for me, and I used it to download "A Charlie Brown Christmas (Expanded)" audio cd and a few extra songs that I had been looking for but not able to find. I was thrilled! Hoping that this is the start of a good upswing for me!

Fleece blankets and a bit of rambling....you know how I am!

The comments I got on my last post were about the blankets, so I thought I would share with you how I made them.
For the baby blankets I use one yard of a patterned fleece and one yard of a solid fleece. I lay them out on the floor, wrong sides together, and then cut out a four to five inch square out of each corner. Then I cut strips along one side of the blanket (I usually try to get them about an inch and a half or so wide....I gave up measuring each one and then started using two fingers together to measure, now I just try to average it out) and tie the strips together. I found that I have to tie them twice or they come undone in the laundry (yes I speak from experience!) Continue with all four sides and you are all set! It takes all of a half hour or so and it makes a nice gift! I made each of my daycare kids one for Christmas and made one for myself as well. I used two or three yards for mine, I don't remember.
My only problem now is that our Wal Mart is getting rid of most of it's crafting section which means I'll have to drive an hour at least to find any fleece to make the blankets, or any cross stitch supplies for that matter. I do hope that they put their fleece on sale soon to try to clear it out if that is what they are planning to do though, I found a beautiful golden fleece with some music scores and notes and things on it that I would love to do for myself, but it just isn't in the budget right now!

Blankets and Plays

Baby blanket number one
Baby blanket number two
There are the pictures I promised of the blankets that I finished on Saturday. I finished them just before we left to go to the play.
The play was ok that night. A few of the kids messed up their songs, a few had random, awkward pauses, and a few made up their own lines as they went along when they couldn't remember what to say. They all did very well considering they didn't have alot of time in practice and it was Shakespere. We went out to Pizza Hut with our friends afterwards and J was pretty upset that he had messed up his lines. I told him he did very well, at least he said something rather than standing there staring at the others on stage. The whole cast and J and his female lead in the play!
Sunday went very quickly! We had alot of fun in Sunday School, I only had two boys. I didn't end up going to the homeschool concert with K, C called and asked if I wanted to go to the musical with her again. K said I should go, so he dropped me off as he was headed out to church for the music program. They did ALOT better that time! I can really only remember a few mistakes. They all seemed alot happier afterwards too!
I've been trying to catch up today with the things I didn't get done Saturday. I'm working on laundry and I plan on printing cards tonight. Maybe I'll get some knitting done during Jon & Kate plus 8. Their wedding in Hawaii is showing tonight, I can't wait to see it! I know I'm additcted to that show! That's really all the tv I watch, other than a bit with the daycare kids.
I've made a little progress with the current scarf I am knitting. It is a thinner yarn, and the little "poofs" are making it a bit more difficult to work with, but I knit every chance I get on it, even if it is just one row. I can't wait to finish it! I will have a difficult time deciding which scarf to knit next!

Sunday craziness!

I got most of my projects done yesterday, not quite all of them, but I didn't do too badly. Today looks like it will be a busy day again too. I forgot that we have choir practice after church this morning, and with the homeschool music program that K is doing sound for at 2 we will probably run out and grab some lunch, change, and head right back to the church. After the program we will have to clean up a bit and then be ready for our evening service. I plan on taking my camera with me, so maybe I will have some more pictures to share. I did get pictures of the fleece blankets that I made yesterday and I will post them tomorrow.
Hope you all have a great day and you are able to relax and you are warmer than our 29 degrees this morning!

Procrastination, my best friend!

I have a list of things to get done today, but here I am again, procrastinating!
I have gotten the house cleaned and the laundry started, but I still have Sunday School to do, PowerPoint for the evening service, fleece tie blankets to make, cards to print, a few songs to transfer over to the church's laptop so they can be used for Awana and Sunday School. And we are going to the play tonight. I would love to have some time to knit today yet too, but we'll see!
K just came and asked me if I want to run up town with him too, and of course I said yes! It's just running a few errands, we won't be gone long, but just one more thing to add to the day:)!

Day off slacking and new babies!!

I didn't do much of anything today. I ended up with the day off and the most that I accomplished was PowerPoint for Sunday morning and putting some new Christmasy and a couple other fun ringtones on my phone. I hope to get Sunday School done, but that is going to depend on whether or not we go over PowerPoint with PM tonight. Otherwise we will have to go over it tomorrow night after the play. PM and C's son is in the high school play again. He has a leading part from what I understand too! It is tonight, tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon. We decided to go tomorrow night, Sunday afternoon K is doing sound for the homsechool group's music concert so that wouldn't work, and we were figuring that tomorrow they would have all of the "opening night jitters" and "bugs" worked out.
We also got news that a friend of ours had her baby this morning! I've seen some pictures on Facebook and he is adorable! And his cheeks! I love those chubby baby cheeks, just have to kiss them! Can't wait to see them! Which also means that I have another project, actually two because another family from our church recently had a baby..., I am making them those fleece tie, no sew blankets. Hopefully I can get both of them done while K is at work tomorrow!

Yarn, it's everywhere, it's everywhere!

It looks like an ordinary, every day, plain sort of tote doesn't it?

But take the lid off and you can see my many treasures waiting to be knitted up!

Two skeins Earth and Sky Red Heart Super Saver... I really like these colors together!

Three skeins Cher 4 No Boundaries Yarn...love this one! My Mother in Law crocheted me a scarf out of this one, I can't wait to knit with it!

Two skeins of Hawaii Lion Brand Fun Fur...Think tropical haha, this will pick up the orange in my good winter coat too

Two skeins of Nancy 3 No Boundaries Yarn, nice and soft and fluffy! I may switch this out with a pink Baby Lash down further for a scarf yet, just not sure....

Two skeins Confetti Lion Brand Fun Fur

Two skeins Tropical Turquoise Lion Brand Fancy Fur

Two skeins Circus Bernat Softee Chunky for a nice warm scarf

Two skeins Rainbow Lion Brand Fun Fur

Two skeins Stella 29 No Boundaries yarn for a fun scarf

Bikini Red Heart Super Saver for a bright scarf

Two skeins each of Precious Pink Bernat Baby Lash and Black Caron Simply Soft to knit together for a nice scarf

?, Gumdrop, Sea Mist, and Faded Denim Peaches & Creme 100% Cotton yarn for dishcloths

Mango Caron Simply Soft was supposed to be a scarf for a friend but not so sure that will happen now...long story

Two skeins of Blueberry Pie Red Heart Super Saver was supposed to be something for my Mom, what exactly I couldn't tell you now...

Buff Red Heart Fiesta started out as something, what I don't remember, but I'm sure it will be used for something...I do like the color

Spring Green Lion Brand Homespun, will make a nice scarf

Delft Blue Red Heart Super Saver I think this will be used with a white fun fur to make another school color scarf.

Red, White, and Sapphire Lion Brand Fun Fur. I was thinking of doing a red, white, and blue scarf with these.
Bright Blue Lion Brand Fun Fur...seems to be an extra. I'll probably do something school colors with this one, but I'll need to buy more to do anything with it!:)
So we learn two things from this little experience...we can definately tell what my favorite color is (blue if you really couldn't guess!) and that I really have lost my mind! I bought most of my yarn on sale, so I haven't spent a ton on it. I will definately have enough to keep me busy this winter without buying any more yarn! And of course we haven't even discussed the cross stitch projects yet! I really am crazy!
