I'm still here

I know I know I haven't been posting again....real life just seemed to take over there for a bit. I did manage to finish knitting one scarf and I started a new project, a gift for Jen, lol which when I first started to type this I gave away, but caught myself before I hit publish lol! When that project is finished I am going to knit a gift for another friend. She loves to decorate with patriotic things and I saw some Sugar 'n Cream yarn in Early American Ombre and I knew that I had to do something for her with it! I looked on the internet and found a pattern for a dish cloth with a star pattern. It's all knitting and purling and I really like that they give you the option of the directions by sets of rows like Rows 1-5 K1P1 across, ending with K1 or they give you the pattern row by row. I think I am going to use the row by row option so I can cross each row off as I go along because I know how often I will be interrupted and think now where was I??!!

We had a bit of a sleep over with some of the daycare kids the other night. I got a call from Miss A, Slow Mo, and Little C's Mom asking if I could watch the kids about a quarter after 7 Monday night because they were taking their older sister to the hospital an hour away. She had a head ache that she just couldn't get rid of and after being to the local ER and not getting alot of answers, just meds that made her sleepy but didn't get rid of the pain, they decided to take her to a bigger hospital to rule some more serious problems out. The drs up there called it an a-typical migrane and gave her fluids, three different meds, and sent her home after she was feeling better. They finally got home around 1:30 Tuesday morning. I was going to just keep the kids until they woke up in the morning for school, but Little C woke up after having an accident and I didn't have any clothes to change him into, so Dad just came and picked them all up. I was exhausted! It took a while for the kids to get to sleep, they were so excited to be having a sleepover!! I had them all out on the sofa bed and they watched a movie turned on the naptime music once that was over and they finally all did sleep. I tried to lay at the foot of the bed and sleep some, but the boys kept kicking me in the back! K slept for as long as he could in the recliner, but finally gave up and went to bed around 12:15 (poor guy has to get up at 4:30 for work and the recliner isn't the most comfortable to sleep in...I really appreciated him sticking it out for as long as he could!) and after that there was definately no sleeping for me.
I didn't have any kids yesterday so I slept in a bit, but refused to take a nap so that I would be able to sleep last night. I lasted until 10pm and then I couldn't take it anymore! My head hit the pillow and I was out and didn't move until 6:15 this morning!
I've also been helping a friend get ready to open her new quilt shop. We had one in town, but they moved to a neighboring town and there are many who miss it, so she decided to rent a space on main street and open her own! I think it is a perfect fit for her, she does alot of quilting, and she used to be Amish, giving her shop a unique little fit. I have been entering her fabrics into the compter for her and picking out some that I want to use at the same time!! I am close to finishing my first quilt and can't wait to get started on more with some of the fabrics she has in the shop!
Well, this is getting terribly long so I guess I'll quit for now.....hope you all are having a great day! Big hugs!

Another day off...

Not much going on around here today. Today is another day off. So far I'm working on laundry again and I've almost got that done. I've also painted my nails and caught up on some emails and things. This week I work Tuesday and Wednesday and then not until Monday and Friday of next week. This weekend is the church's family camp out weekend so it should be a good weekend to have a long weekend, but hopefully I can find a few more things to do!!
Oh well if nothing else I'll catch up on movie watching and I can always use the stitching/knitting time!

Knitting Scarves

Jen asked about the scarves I have been knitting in a comment to a previous post, so here I am to answer her questions and hopefully help myself at the same time and have it all in writing.
First, Jen; what is the scarf that you want to knit going to be used for? To keep warm or more for dress? The scarves that I knit for warmth I usually use about 25 stitches. For the "tinsel" scarf that I am working on now, it's more for dress and I have 16 stitches on my needles. I have not done tassels on the ends of any of my scarves, but I have heard that it is fairly easy to attatch them using a crochet hook, I will have to see if I can find any more information on that for you. As for length, if I am using the fun fur I usually use two skeins of the fun fur.
It may be a little close for you to knit a scarf for Christmas, but that all depends on how fast you knit and how much time you will have to work on it. If I don't have any kids or anything else going on and I can get a scarf done in 2-3 days, but some scarves I just do a few rows here and a few rows there it can take alot longer.
I hope this helps Jen! If there are any other questions that I can answer just let me know!

Blankets and Plays

Baby blanket number one
Baby blanket number two
There are the pictures I promised of the blankets that I finished on Saturday. I finished them just before we left to go to the play.
The play was ok that night. A few of the kids messed up their songs, a few had random, awkward pauses, and a few made up their own lines as they went along when they couldn't remember what to say. They all did very well considering they didn't have alot of time in practice and it was Shakespere. We went out to Pizza Hut with our friends afterwards and J was pretty upset that he had messed up his lines. I told him he did very well, at least he said something rather than standing there staring at the others on stage. The whole cast and J and his female lead in the play!
Sunday went very quickly! We had alot of fun in Sunday School, I only had two boys. I didn't end up going to the homeschool concert with K, C called and asked if I wanted to go to the musical with her again. K said I should go, so he dropped me off as he was headed out to church for the music program. They did ALOT better that time! I can really only remember a few mistakes. They all seemed alot happier afterwards too!
I've been trying to catch up today with the things I didn't get done Saturday. I'm working on laundry and I plan on printing cards tonight. Maybe I'll get some knitting done during Jon & Kate plus 8. Their wedding in Hawaii is showing tonight, I can't wait to see it! I know I'm additcted to that show! That's really all the tv I watch, other than a bit with the daycare kids.
I've made a little progress with the current scarf I am knitting. It is a thinner yarn, and the little "poofs" are making it a bit more difficult to work with, but I knit every chance I get on it, even if it is just one row. I can't wait to finish it! I will have a difficult time deciding which scarf to knit next!

Two skeins of Blueberry Pie Red Heart Super Saver was supposed to be something for my Mom, what exactly I couldn't tell you now...

Buff Red Heart Fiesta started out as something, what I don't remember, but I'm sure it will be used for something...I do like the color

Spring Green Lion Brand Homespun, will make a nice scarf

Delft Blue Red Heart Super Saver I think this will be used with a white fun fur to make another school color scarf.

Red, White, and Sapphire Lion Brand Fun Fur. I was thinking of doing a red, white, and blue scarf with these.
Bright Blue Lion Brand Fun Fur...seems to be an extra. I'll probably do something school colors with this one, but I'll need to buy more to do anything with it!:)
So we learn two things from this little experience...we can definately tell what my favorite color is (blue if you really couldn't guess!) and that I really have lost my mind! I bought most of my yarn on sale, so I haven't spent a ton on it. I will definately have enough to keep me busy this winter without buying any more yarn! And of course we haven't even discussed the cross stitch projects yet! I really am crazy!
