Knitting Scarves

Jen asked about the scarves I have been knitting in a comment to a previous post, so here I am to answer her questions and hopefully help myself at the same time and have it all in writing.
First, Jen; what is the scarf that you want to knit going to be used for? To keep warm or more for dress? The scarves that I knit for warmth I usually use about 25 stitches. For the "tinsel" scarf that I am working on now, it's more for dress and I have 16 stitches on my needles. I have not done tassels on the ends of any of my scarves, but I have heard that it is fairly easy to attatch them using a crochet hook, I will have to see if I can find any more information on that for you. As for length, if I am using the fun fur I usually use two skeins of the fun fur.
It may be a little close for you to knit a scarf for Christmas, but that all depends on how fast you knit and how much time you will have to work on it. If I don't have any kids or anything else going on and I can get a scarf done in 2-3 days, but some scarves I just do a few rows here and a few rows there it can take alot longer.
I hope this helps Jen! If there are any other questions that I can answer just let me know!

Thanks Heidi!!

Yes that did help! Honestly I hadn't thought if it would be for warmth or dress. I guess maybe both?? Thankfully where I live it doesn't get THAT cold! SO I am thinking maybe more for dress! Maybe I could go with about 20 stitches. What do you think?

Yeah, I realize I was being over ambitious trying to knit a scarf in time for Christmas, especially since I am a fairly new knitter!

I am going to buy some yarn, (now I know how much to buy!) and just see how I do! I guess this first one will be for me!!

Thanks for the help! I'll let you know how it goes!!
